Such a wasted opportunity. I had always hoped GSF would blossom into full fledged capital ship engagements between guild flagships. By that, i mean look where the content is now. They shelved the next ship 4 years ago. Jonathan Parker Oh my goodness, I just got the biggest amazing flashback of all the fun I had in SWG, flying ships around in atmosphere and in space. Holy shit, I want to go back to that. I had an advanced X-wing and a Nova courier, one that I customized for so long to get it how I wanted it. Oh, those were the days. I miss that game so much. So many cool stuff and the TCG loot stuff was added as quest rewards!
Matchmaking in Destiny, is it ever going to happend?
Feb 12, · But yeah, why isn’t matchmaking for all raid difficulties already a thing? Just curious. inb4 omg even less player interactions, WoW has already borderline ZERO don’t make it worse inb4 omg u don’t even pve inb4 “No.”.
I wouldn’t call Destiny “essentially an MMO” due to a huge number of factors, but they are definitely making an experience more like what PC gamers are used too with MMOs. You need to understand these kind of games before you can truly understand why matchmaking doesn’t work. MMO-like content isn’t something you can just do with random players as it’s not built for randoms being paired together. The vast majority of the content in this game is built for people who have a good line of communication with each other, matchmaking groups rarely basically never have that.
You get matched into your game, you play with your team or solo, you do your best to play your role but you rarely hear detailed communications between people. The way they are setting up Destiny puts players in situations where instead of forcing players to play together, they simply allow players to interact with each other in any way they want. In the open world players ultimately have the choice who they want to help and how.
Destiny 2: When Will Nightfall Strike & Raid Matchmaking in Guided Games Begin?
Nov 5, jviggy43 said: And Ive had plenty of bad experiences using LFG. Lets not turn this into a “Well I raid 18 times a week and use LFG all the time so if your experience isn’t similar to mine you clearly never used it” debate.
Guided Games was announced some time ago, but this new functionality was not included in Destiny 2 at launch. If you’re wondering when Guided Games Matchmaking for Nightfall Strikes and Raids in Destiny 2 will launch, the answer is soon.
Saturday, 22 November Why good matchmaking requires enormous player counts Good matchmaking is an important part of creating an online multiplayer game. One thing you may not realise is that no matter how you build it, truly good matchmaking requires enormous numbers of players. Awesomenauts often has well over 1, people playing the game at the same time, which is very high and successful for an indie game. It certainly sounds like a lot to me, but this is only a fraction of what would be needed to do everything with matchmaking that we would want to do.
No matchmaking in Destiny!
The game needs to do leveled matchmaking for a number of reasons. Its the number one reason why people leave this game, feel like there’s tons of cheaters, and turn away and never come back. Anyone who is disagreeing is people who like shooting unarmed, under skilled players who have no idea how to play the game.
No matchmaking forces players to either go without those activities, attempt them alone, or seek other players through online LFG sites. Even more vexing, for raids – that crucial content needed to reach the top light level – there is no matchmaking.

No matchmaking in Destiny!
Back in the old days if you acted like a jerk and got a bad reputation on your server, your expansion was essentially over after questing. No one wanted to put up with that when they’re just trying to have fun in casual raids, or require the intense teamwork necessary to do the harder variants. Now it’s just group after group of “gogogo” and mouthiness. But on the other hand, I also remember entire afternoons trying to get a group together and then failing, your entire gaming session shot on a single dungeon.
I don’t exactly look back on that with rosy glasses. Yeah, I get it.

By Anthony Taormina 1 year ago report this ad Although players have been requesting it since the early days of Destiny 1, Bungie confirms that Destiny 2 will not support matchmaking in the traditional sense. There will be a new feature called Guided Games that is meant to bring players together for challenging activities, but randomly pairing players is something that Bungie feels does not work for its game. Noseworthy also shared some info about how Guided Games will support a variety of players with a variety of interests.
Teaming random players together very rarely ends well. The type of community we want to have, the friendly, welcoming space we want Destiny to be. Please be fair to other players. When you are playing the raid — people have roles, there is coordination.
Should games like Destiny be allowed to omit matchmaking?
But it was never really clear what the heck was going on beyond those airy concepts. How are the Guardians revived and who are they? What the heck is the deal with that royal family living in the space junkyard? And why do the Ghosts sound like Peter Dinklage waking up from a really long sleep? Also, what the hell are the Ghosts? There are, of course, rumours that the Destiny story mode was originally much more dense, but that Bungie was forced to jettison great chunks of content as the planned release deadline loomed hence the relegation of lots of narrative detail to the Grimoire cards, which you have to go online and READ.

By William Usher 3 years ago If you were hoping to log-in to Destiny, fire up the game menu and open an option to instantly find a good raid team via a matchmaking tool The designer addressed the issue of finding decent matches for raids via in-game tools. Smith shoots down the idea that they need traditional tools that people are accustomed to, when discussing matchmaking I think that’s the challenge. It’s not how do we change the raid-design philosophy to allow for matchmaking. The game itself feels like the skeleton of an MMO that was intended to evolve into a bustling single-player campaign, but neither idea came together in a way that made it satisfactory Nevertheless, Bungie wants to address the game’s lack of camaraderie and they’re going to do so in a way that fits the nature of the game.
So how do they plan to do this? Well, Smith offers something of an old-school suggestion
Bungie Has ‘No Plans’ to Bring Raid Matchmaking to Destiny

It’s week two of the Destiny 2 Leviathan raid and rather than creating an entire new ordeal, Bungie has simply remixed it. So it still has the same component parts as it did last week, they’re.
Comments Shares Bungie has confirmed that it’s considering the addition of matchmaking to Destiny’s super-challenging Raids. However, for those who have actually tackled the game’s first Raid–which is only available for players of level 26 and above–it may come as a surprise that Bungie is considering the idea of letting strangers team up altogether. After all, the Vault of Glass is bastard-hard, and requires total coordination among no fewer than six players.
However, I think it’s a glorious testament to the way Destiny’s players have embraced the spirit of teamwork engendered by the game itself. So, for me, it comes as little surprise. Despite the fact that I work in the ‘games industry’, and could easily populate a six-person Raid based on the people I can physically see from my office desk, I find myself increasingly seeking the comfort of strangers in Destiny.
Hey, I love playing Strikes with friends as much as the next person, but there’s a wonderful feeling that comes with overcoming overwhelming odds with two complete unknowns.
